In some ways, meditation is a lot like time traveling.

Remember Our Connection

All of our connections to all things is fleeting; people like friends and family, ideas like love or depression, places like art galleries or coal mines, other living entities like grass or water, it’s all fleeting. But while it is all fleeting, it is important to remember we are connected to these things through every breath and heartbeat.

The Power of Words

Meditating on my words.

Meditating on my words.

In the past I have used my words carelessly, and as a result it has hurt some people. I can understand how certain things said can have a momentous and megalithic reaction in some, even though it was never my intention to cause such large reactions. Our words are valuable, for they are the air we breath vibrating through us into the consciousnesses of others. And while I realize and understand I am NOT responsible for the actions and reactions of others in how they will interpret & perceive what I say, part of me feels it necessary to take responsibility for the carelessness in which I did speak.

This is part of my humanity.

To be clear, his isn’t meant to be a call for political correctness or censorship of thought and words, for I value the freedom of self-expression and speech quite highly. However, this is a call to be mindful of the words we say and the context in which we are using them.

Generation of Change

Today I published an article on Medium about a subject I’ve been meditating on for quite some time, but only recently have words come through to express these thoughts.

I encourage everyone to check it out if you feel like it by either clicking on the link above or here…

The Meaning of Life

New video on the blog. While I think the meaning of life is different for everyone, there are a few things I think we can all agree upon.

It’s a Trap

Sometimes, people trap themselves into their own perpetual self-fulfilling prophecy prison traps. An example might be someone who often says things like “I feel like nobody wants to help me with anything,” yet also says “I just need to do things myself to keep myself distracted,” among other phrases that catch some in a near perfect trap of inability and apathy.

Granted, every situation is different and context is needed. This isn’t meant to be a blanket statement. These situations are complicated, especially when we can see people who put themselves into these perpetual self-fulfilling prophecy prison traps. In these instances, being around those who trap themselves, it is important to note that we can only do so much to help. This isn’t meant to say we should be apathetic toward people like this or love them less, but we should be aware of how much time and energy we spend with people like this, as after a while it can prove to be draining.

Feeling Others and Self

Feeling the tension in others can be difficult, and sometimes we don’t always know when we are. It’s easy to confuse other’s emotions with our own sometimes because the movement, vibration and energy of other people are quite fast, regardless if it’s of a positive or unfriendly nature.

I’ve noticed that often, when I am around others or speaking with others who are experiencing a lot of grief or frustration, in the moments I am with them I am fine, everything is good. But later, after speaking or being in their presence I find that sometimes the echoes of these thoughts reverberate back, like a delayed response. I feel these things move through my body sometimes, and I often cry/laugh later. For some like myself, it seems like there is a greater inclination toward becoming attached to the the thoughts, vibrations and energy of others. Every day is a learning process of how to detach and release.

Critical Thinking Tips

For Everyone Who Thinks

For Everyone Who Thinks

The thoughts in this new article on Medium have been in a long gestation period. A brief excerpt is below, but I encourage all those who hopes to live a higher consciousness and mindful lives to read the whole thing,

“Thanks to an onslaught of complicated laws and loopholes in addition to the ever growing wedge of political division, room for nuanced thought, let alone critical thinking seems to be at an all time low.”

Projecting Proportions of Expectations

Sometimes other people have different priorities than you. It is your decision to sometimes put their priorities ahead of yours, or not. But this can be a tricky thing.

For most of their life a friend of mine holds the priorities of others in higher esteem than their own. While again, this is each individual person’s choice, they’ve taken this thought process a step further and they have attached themselves to a projection of expecting others to do the same for them. Unfortunately for my friend, not everyone is inside their head to know this. But more importantly, this idea is not what is reality, which often creates suffering and tension.

Perfect Illusion

Perfect is an illusion in our human realm. Nobody is, nor was completely perfect. But when we move through the process of rebirth, we become perfect & imperfect simultaneously.

Honor the Saddness

When people are hurting, we have a choice to either listen or ignore.

Sometimes, perhaps it feels as though certain people gravitate towards sadness. Regardless if it’s a conscious decision or not, we must remember to be gentle with these beings. This isn’t to say we placate to their melancholia whims, but it is important to note their sadness, anxieties and/or other maladies means they are moving through/coming to understand something tremendous in their lives at that point in time; it’s a critical point in their journey. It means we need to honor their sadness as best we can by NOT forcing it out of them or convince them otherwise.

Sometimes these sad, hurting people will test our patience, try to hurt us, push everyone away, not face their fears, etc. This is because they are scared. And sometimes, the only option is to either allow the fear to play out or help them confront and embrace the fear in a conducive way, as long as it doesn’t involve harm to others of their own bodies. This is a tricky tightrope to walk sometimes and in many instances all we can do is listen in a way that doesn’t involve ego.

Temporary Universes of Life

Each day is its own temporary universe. Each connection & relationship is its own universe. Each moment is its own temporary universe. Expecting similarities, results &/or actions from previous encounters is folly, for nothing can be as it was.

Evolving with Ourselves

We must remember to drop expectations and ideas about ourselves and the people in our lives. Everyone evolves in thought, and heart.

This isn’t to say we should blindly accept ones thoughts and opinions as fact, nor should we simply throw our trust to someone who has either consistently waffled on issues of self, society, etc.

However, the moment we think certain thoughts, ideas, traits, etc as static or immobile within oneself or others, we are setting ourselves up for impossible expectations which will more than likely lead to disappointment.
